Between the days 06 e 14 August 2026, the 22nd Meeting of Multidisciplinary Studies in Culture took place (ENECULT), held at the Federal University of Bahia (UFBA), in Salvador-BA, with the main activity space being the Faculty of Communication building (FACOM).
The Postgraduate Program in Human Development-PPGDH (UNITAU) was present, represented by Prof. Dr. João Rangel Marcelo, with participation in the Cultures and Identities GT, space dedicated to debate and reflection on different dimensions of cultures, of identities and their relationships with contemporary society. In the work session, the article “Religiosity and Identity in Latin America” was presented, work that integrates the reflections and research developed in the professor's Master's and Doctorate on the manifestations of religiosity and its links with the processes of construction of Latin American identities.
The presentation made it possible to discuss how religiosity constitutes an important cultural and symbolic element in the formation of identities in Latin America, considering the diversity of experiences, practices, representations and traditions that cross the region.
The session was mediated by professors José Rios (UNIFTC) and Ricardo Freitas (UNEB), and the discussions held after the presentations expanded the possibilities for reflection on the relationships between culture, identity, religiosity and the historical and social processes that characterize Latin America.
