Master's degree in Human Development and mental health promotion

The Wellbeing and Mental Health Center is linked to the Student Dean's Office of the University of Taubaté and coordinated by Prof.. Dr. Ricardo Mendes Mattos, permanent professor of the Postgraduate Program in Human Development.

The promotion of mental health in the university community depends on the articulation between scientific research and student assistance policies.

The Master's in Human Development develops scientific research with a view to improving the activities of the Well-Being and Mental Health Center. This is the case of researcher Núbia Agripina P's master's thesis. R. de Souza, guided by professors Renato Almeida and Alexandra Rodrigues, entitled “Analysis of the influence of physical activity on the quality of life of university students”. This research mapped the characteristics of mental health and quality of life in all undergraduate courses at the University of Taubaté, with a view to understanding the student's profile to carry out mental health promotion actions.

Such actions are carried out by the Wellbeing and Mental Health Center in various areas: individualized psychosocial support (Psychosocial Support Project – PAPS); Integrative Health Practices/Anti-Stress Touch – Calatonia; Advisory to teachers/coordinators on mental health issues of students; guidance for families of university students; production of mental health education materials; and formation of networks to promote mental health.

Strengthened by its partnership with the Master in Human Development, the Wellbeing and Mental Health Center carries out an important community intervention to promote health among university students.
