The Master's Program in Human Development at the University of Taubaté supported the holding of the 16th Meeting of the Brazilian Association of Social Psychology/Abrapso Regional São Paulo, with the University of Taubaté as its headquarters. The support included mediation for UNITAU to host the event. Considering the characterization of the event as academic and social, the Deans of Research and Postgraduate and Extension offered support and the structure of the university. The event was hosted by the Psychology and, like this, was held at the Bom Conselho Campus.
The theme of the 16th. Abrapso São Paulo meeting was: Capitalism, class struggle and the challenges for democracy in Brazil: implications for psychosocial praxis. The event was held between the days 21, 22 e 23 April 2023.
UNITAU has already hosted the event in 2010, having as a link on the occasion the NIPPC-Interdisciplinary Center for Research in Contemporary Praxis, who is currently part of the Master's Program in Human Development.
ABRAPSO is a nationally and internationally recognized and consolidated entity having been founded in 1980, constitutes an important space for exchange and social and critical positioning of knowledge production. ABRAPSO is made up of professionals (researchers, psychologists, militants, public managers) and students (in the undergraduate or postgraduate process), what, through teaching, investigation, application or diffusion, contribute to the development of Social Psychology in Brazil.
In addition to supporting and collaborating in the event, the Master's Program in Human Development-PMDH was represented with the participation of teachers and master's students from the Program who served on the Local Organizing Committee, presented their research and participated in round tables at the Meeting. A Prof. Dr. Régis de Souza Toledo, collaborating professor at PMDH, served as president of the local Organizing Committee, which also included the participation of Profa. Drag. Rachel Duarte Abdala and Prof. Dr. André Luiz da Silva, PMDH coordinators. Professors Régis Souza and André Silva also participated in a round table with Prof.. Dr. Leandro Roberto Neves with the title: Capitalism and neoliberalism: challenges to psychosocial praxis. Prof.. Drag. Mirian Cristina de Moura Garrido, visiting professor from PMDH and master's students Claudio Goncalves Mendes Galiotto and Thaís Caroline Alves de Oliveira, both supervised by Profa. Drag. Deborah Inácia Ribeiro, presented their research.
