UNITAU promotes seminar ‘The Questions of Looking’ focusing on the cultural heritage of Vale do Paraíba

During the days 22 e 23 from November, From 18h, The Department of Architecture of the University of Taubaté (UNITAU) hosts the seminar “The questions of the look”. The event is free, open to the public and carried out through the Master Program in Human Development (MDH), History and Architecture Courses, in partnership with the Paraiba Valley Heritage House, which is linked to the Institute of National Historical and Artistic Heritage (IPHAN).

The seminar is developed periodically by the Paraíba Valley Landscape Observatory, which is a network of professionals and researchers who work in institutions, public agencies, Higher Education Institutions, files, Museums and cultural foundations that are dedicated to the study and preservation of the cultural heritage of the Paraíba Valley Metropolitan Region and North Coast.

“The main objective of the event is to promote active reflection on material and immaterial heritage and culture and propose public policies for the preservation of the region's memory and cultural heritage. At UNITAU, We will have musical performances, Museum Debates, Heritage and mental health and case studies on preservation of heritage and heritage education ”, says prof. Dr. André Luiz da Silva, MDH teacher and one of the event organizers.

Prof.. Drag. Rachel Abdalla, also teacher of the Master in Human Development, explains that the seminar plays an important role in the context of the preservation of the historical and cultural heritage of Vale do Paraíba and helps to strengthen the work developed with this focus.

“The objective is to promote partnerships and articulations to integrate isolated initiatives in the area in our region. Besides that, intends to give visibility to these initiatives and strengthen them”, explains Professor Rachel.

A Prof. Dr. André Luiz da Silva also highlights the importance of the event for the institution, since it does exactly what the university mission is: gather teaching, Research and Extension.

“The meeting promotes the interaction of the academic community with society in general – private sector, public sector, third sector. It is also an opportunity for the university to make a return of its research actions, through the Master in Human Development, and of extension, through the Heritage Education Project, for the community ”, says the teacher.

Lastly, The teacher recalls that the seminar will allow a moment of sociability, with artistic presentations, cultural and leisure, very important for students, teachers and staff of the institution.
