In the 19th century, coffee was the main agricultural product of the country, responsible for the enrichment of Brazil in the imperial period. It came to be revered as “green gold”. In addition to the economic projection of the coffee culture, Taubaté, strategically located between the states of São Paulo, Minas Gerais and Rio de Janeiro, hosted, in 26 February 1906, the signing of an agreement that was named Convention of Taubaté and that defined the economic and political direction of Brazil in the following decades, establishing the guidelines of the first republic. The Coffee Agreement had great national and international projection. Brazil stopped, and the world press only talked about him.

The proposal is, from the creation of this Museum to promote the articulation between teaching, university research and extension, in addition to the interdisciplinarity between different areas, Among them, the History, architecture and economics. The project involves the composition of a collaborative network between cities in the region that had their stories and memories intertwined., by sharing the historical period of the rise and peak of coffee in Brazil, in strengthening and establishing partnerships with the City Hall of Taubaté and other cities in the Vale do Paraíba region, historical heritage preservation agencies in Brazil, in this case, in particular the National Artistic Heritage Institute-IPHAN, and private initiative entities.
