In day 8 March 2023, International Women's Day, UNITAU launched the Project “Women who inspire other women”, designed by the Women's Defense Police Stations of Taubaté and Pindamonhangaba, with the support of the Violence Observatory, extension project at the University of Taubaté (UNITAU), coordinated by the Law course professor, Police Chief and master's student in the Master's Program in Human Development at UNITAU, Daniel Estefano Santos.
The main objective of the Project “Women who inspire other women” is to make real stories cross the paths of ordinary people to encourage debate, reflection and change of attitude towards machismo and its consequences, the most common of which is domestic violence.
The most recent Special Public Security Yearbook brings to light a worrying statistic: only in 2021, more than 161 One thousand domestic violence calls were registered by the Military Police in the State of São Paulo, that is, 18 occurrences per hour. It's not an isolated case. If you suffer any type of gender-based violence or know someone who is experiencing this situation, find out how to report:
Ligue 190 in case of emergencies, to immediately call the Military Police.
Ligue 180 at any time, to register a report of violence against women.
