Professor of the Master's Program in Human Development participates in the Rondon Project mission

In July of 2023 the University of Taubaté participated in Operation Advanced Sentinels in the municipality of Alto Alegre dos Parecis, in the State of Rondônia. The team was made up of two professors and eight academics from different areas of knowledge. The diversity of academic areas led to the strengthening of interdisciplinarity for the development of health workshops, education, culture and human rights/justice. Prof.. Drag. Wendry Maria Paixão Pereira, professor of the Master's Program in Human Development at the University of Taubaté participated in this mission.

THE Rondon Project It is an inter-ministerial initiative, coordinated by the Ministry of Defense, with the aim of contributing to the development of citizenship, as well as stimulating the production of local collective projects and developing the social responsibility of students. In addition to directly contributing to the well-being of the population and improving people's living conditions, especially in locations with a low Human Development Index, as well as providing our students with an immersion in university extension.

The group had the opportunity to carry out activities with the original people of the municipality of the Sakirabiar ethnic group, who presented their food and dances to the group, as well as participated in several workshops proposed.

Actions were also carried out for various actors such as municipal managers, health professionals, teachers, with the aim of training and generating knowledge multipliers in the region.

The activities carried out included residents of all ages and we were present carrying out our workshops in health units, settlements, schools, elderly associations and others.

The group can visit the Rondon Memorial, in Porto Velho, which brings together references from the history of Rondônia related to the Rondon Expedition and the old village of Santo Antônio do Rio Madeira.

prof. Wendry Paixão Pereira highlighted the receptivity of the population and the professional and personal learning provided to the entire UNITAU team, resulting in a unique and enriching experience and stated that: “With each Rondon I participate in, I am sure that the moments and learning experienced are immeasurable.”
