Study of researchers from the Master in Human Development at the University of Taubaté (UNITAU) on the impact of neoconservatism in Brazil, it points out a significant increase in violence against women and weakening protection policies and rights. This is the first time the data provided by the government was used in a research.

The numbers analyzed are related to the hospitalizations of women victims of physical aggression in 1.270 Brazilian municipalities in the period between 2014 e 2023. The study is based on the amount of occurrences per month and year, besides considering factors such as ethnicity and type of aggression.

From that, The research reveals that the strengthening of discourses and neoconservative policies contributed to the increase of violence against women and femicides in Brazil. From 2018 a 2022, There was a reduction in 54,46% in investments in women's protection policies and an increase in 7,3% in femicide.

The project conducted by Profa. Drag. Angela Michele Suave, by Prof.. Drag. Lindamar Alves Faermann and by. Dr. Júlio Cesar Voltolini, Evaluates the association between neoconservative policies and increased gender violence in Brazil. Research demonstrates how antigeneral guidelines influence women's daily lives and contribute to a vulnerability environment.

The teacher of the Master in Human Development Profa. Drag. Angela Michele Miça highlights that, in research, They are evident how neoconservative policies weaken the protection of women, Cutting investments in programs to combat violence and adopting narratives that delegitimize feminist guidelines.

“This not only reduced support for victims but also contributed to perpetuating the so -called 'rape culture', that normalizes or minimizes violence. The lack of prioritization in social policies, not only specific to women, But in the areas of health, social assistance, job, among others, contributes to increasing violence against women ”, it says.

Besides that, a standard of increased aggression was evidenced during summer and in states with high population density, As São Paulo, Bahia, Minas Gerais and Pará, who concentrated 49% of hospitalizations. In municipal terms, São Paulo led with 3.654 hospitalizations, Followed by Ananindeua (To) with 2.406 e, third, Belo Horizonte, totaling 2.126 hospitalizations.

According to research data, There was a tendency to increase hospitalizations throughout the decade, with significant growth in 2023. A Prof. Voltolini explains the reflexes of the social phenomenon.

“We need to understand that, When a social phenomenon is extremely strong, not to give importance to a group of social minority, for example, This effect will last for years, then, We must wait, probably, what, in 2024, an increase also occurs, Unfortunately as a reflection of this ”, it says.

The study points out that neoconservatism exacerbates gender inequalities, hindering access to rights and increasing violence against women, especially black.

Study highlights the importance of protection policies for women

The results of unprecedented data analysis reinforce the importance of public policies and the mobilization of feminist movements to combat gender violence, protect women's rights and emancipation.

A Prof. Dr. Julio César Voltolini, It states that it is always necessary to think about violence against women from a social and political point of view and not just with a public health problem to escape a shallow view of the problem.

“Traditional education reinforces the stereotype of gender and papers of submission. This creates generations that absorb and perpetuate the idea that violence against women is a smaller or private problem. This normalizes machismo, Inequality, since childhood, and will contribute to a society that minimizes gender violence. And if it happens, limits actions to combat this violence ”, says.

One of the resolutions brought by the researchers in the face of this problem, that is already rooted in the country, It's education, where children can be prepared, early, indoors and inside the school, As for the issue of equality, of equity and how to treat women.

Prof.. Michele Smooth reveals that in addition to proposing resolutions for the problem, The study allows to identify spatial and temporal standards that can guide social policies according to specific data that can be collected in the region, Considering that violence against women is present in large centers and in inner cities.

“I work in the forum of a small city, Saint, as a judicial social worker and, leaf, beyond the work done by the Executive, through health policies and social assistance, the justice system itself, through the judiciary, conducts projects with men who committed domestic violence against women, and the index has fallen ”, exemplifies.

Another response brought by the research is the creation of recovery programs for aggressors so that, After serving time, return to society without offering risk of violence to women who live with them.

The researchers still point to an information deficit in federal databases, in which women are recorded only as numbers, therefore, There is no detail about who the aggressor was, or the place where the aggression occurred. Logo, Public policies are also required to collect scientific data on cases that aspire to improve the amount and quality of information present in databases.

Unitau project highlights the importance of the complaint

To make women aware of the importance of denouncing aggressors, The UNITAU Violence Observatory Extension Project created the “Women who inspire other women” campaign, launched 2023.

One of the campaign characters and abusive relationships, Janaina Oliveira reports that in the last relationship, The boyfriend was a good person, although, aggressive when drank. Over time, verbal aggressions became physical.

“When we talk to such a person, She always shows to be right, agride, curse, humiliate. And we are afraid to say and people don't believe. Then, There is a time that if you don't get enough, This will not stop. That's why, From the moment you make a decision and that you have the courage to act, This is where your life begins to change,”It states in one of the campaign videos.
