Master's student participates in event on Anti-Racist Education

In day 23 from November, The Master Course in Human Development of the University of Taubaté (UNITAU) attended the 1st Symposium on Anti -Racist Education, carried out by the Baobá Institute, in Guaratinguetá-SP. Master Guilherme Augusto Ribeiro had the opportunity to share his research, entitled “Access of the black and brown population of Brazil to master's courses: Case Study on Unitau/Taubaté, Access and permanence”, Research oriented by Profa. Drag. Mirian Cristina de Moura Garrido, Professor of the Graduate Program in Human Development-PPGDH at UNITAU. The event was also attended by the deputy coordinator of PPGDH, Prof. Dr. André Luiz da Silva.

The research offers a deep reflection on social barriers, cultural, Psychological and structural that make it difficult to access and permanence black and brown people in stricto sensu postgraduate courses in Brazil.

Participation in the Symposium was a significant moment to reaffirm Unitau's PPGDH commitment to the construction of a fairer and more inclusive education. The presentation of that research highlights the importance of affirmative actions by opening ways for a necessary dialogue about representativeness. The event contributed to strengthen strategies that recognize and value the presence of black and brown people in academic spaces, aligning with the university's values ​​in promoting diversity and social justice.
