Marcos Roberto Furlan

Project title

Ethnobotany and Social Representation in Traditional Communities

goals

Considering the main questions about how the actors of a traditional community represent their knowledge of the flora and how it relates to the place where they work, the objectives of the work are: characterize the profile of actors, in demographic terms and activities in the community, avaliar a percepção dos atores sobre a sua atuação na comunidade e Identificar e descrever os saberes construídos por estes atores.

theoretical Foundations

The purpose of this work is based on the assumption that the individual providing the information about the flora uses relates to your group. Esta relação é construída a partir da demonstração do conhecimento individual herdado de várias gerações.
This individual has characteristics that differentiate it from others on the subject, e sua influência no grupo é significativa a ponto de estar diretamente relacionada com o bem estar de todos.
The concepts related to ethnobotany are essential in conducting this work, Consider historical aspects of the community, aspectos sociais do indivíduo gerador da informação e formas de obtenção das informações.

Methodology

Grupos a serem estudados.

The groups to be studied are residents of rural areas, sendo considerados os que detém o conhecimento sobre o uso das plantas medicinais de sua comunidade.
The work can also be applied in other groups, how, for example, os diferentes profissionais da saúde.

Classificação da pesquisa.

This ranks as the research goals, as descriptive and exploratory; on the approach to the problem, como qualitativa e quantitativa.
The research of the exploratory type is needed, considering that provides greater familiarity with the problem, in order to make it explicit or even to build hypotheses, according to Gil (2002). m Triviños (2009).
A abordagem quantitativa será empregada a partir do tratamento estatístico de dados secundários originados.
The qualitative approach will be used in all the work, however there is the use of the content analysis technique, defined by Bardin (2011) how […] a set of communication analysis techniques aimed at obtaining by systematic procedures and description of objective indicators content of messages (quantitative or not) that allow the inference of knowledge about the conditions of production / reception (inferred variables) dessas mensagens.
As for the collection of information about the aforementioned plants, the following formulas apply:
index of relative importance of the plants used – For the relative importance of species used as the number of respondents that cited the agreement and the uses cited, plants are selected for at least cited 5 informants and set the percentage of agreement as to the main uses (CUP), para cada espécie.

The calculations will be based on work DAYS (1999), calculated as follows:

a) concordance percentage calculation as the major uses for each species (CUP)
CUP= número de informantes que citaram os usos principais/ número de informantes que citaram o uso da espécie x 100
Em seguida o valor encontrado será multiplicado por um fator de correção levando-se em consideração a popularidade da planta em relação a espécie mais citada.

b) Calculation of the correction factor (FC):
FC= número de informantes que citaram a espécie/ número de informantes que citaram a espécie mais citada.

c) Calculation of percentage of agreement corrected (CUPc):
CUPc= CUP x FC
The calculation of the relative importance of the species will be based on work DAYS (1999). This calculation is to evaluate the relative importance of species used in the local community and is based on the number of respondents who cited the species and the degree of concordance between the information, determining the percentage of agreement as to the main uses (CUP), para cada espécie.

Suggestions for topics related to the project that can be developed

• Studies related to the social representation of individuals that transmit traditional knowledge
• Social Representations of community individuals
• Social representations of traditional knowledge about the flora
• ethnobotanical survey regarding the use of plants

Local knowledge and cultural mediation: symbolic action, identity and memory

goals

Investigate how the projects and processes of social knowledge and recognition are transforming the cultural mediation evidenced by the action strategies of popular actors in the Vale do Paraíba-SP region, in order to discuss three goals
specific:
1. Identify local knowledge (local knowledge) that involves everyday reality, and training processes (formal and informal), diante dos contextos em que os sujeitos atuam.
2. To analyze the relationships between the transformation of the dynamics of social actors' performance, dos grupos e dos eventos cotidianos da região do vale do Paraíba-SP.
3. To analyze the symbolic dimensions of human development and the agencies and possibilities experienced by individuals and groups throughout their existence in the most different spheres, as professional, training, daily, religious, politics,
reconfiguration of the symbolic dimension of everyday life, studies of an interdisciplinary nature are based on dialogue with the sociological approach on public policy issues in the sociocultural sector and their relationship with training
local actors; and in the socio-anthropological approach to phenomena related to the symbolic dimension of human development, such as identity productions, artísticas e espirituais dos indivíduos e grupos sociais.

Methodology

Research using qualitative approaches, with emphasis on the use of the comparative and qualitative approach of the symbolic action of the actors through field observation recorded in field notebooks. There will also be
exploratory interviews with the subjects, with previously established scripts for researchers to accommodate the motivations and interests of their informants in their work. Lastly, documentary research is important resource
para a triangulação de dados e a validação metodológica dos mesmos.
